Salary Range:         £26,913 - £28,737 (Pay Award Pending) 

Pool Allowance:    £1,800 payable for pool maintenance work outside of the working hours                                         (subject to gaining pool plant qualification)

Hours:                     Full time 36 hours weekly / 52 weeks annually.  Additional hours paid at                                           Barnet Unified Reward overtime rate 

Start date:              January 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter

          

We are seeking to appoint a positive and self-motivated person who is able to take care of the school site which includes carrying out day-to-day building maintenance / minor improvements.   We require someone who will take pride in our school, and ensure that the school environment is safe and attractive for our school community. 

The main focus of the role is health and safety and the maintenance of the school building, the onsite swimming pool and grounds. Other duties include supporting senior leaders with health & safety audits and overseeing the statutory compliance cyclical maintenance contract.

We are looking for someone who

  • Has a positive attitude and can build excellent relationships with colleagues and the whole school community. 
  • Uses initiative and is a self-starter
  • Has a sound interest in health and safety. 
  • Has a clean driving licence
  • Can carry out routine maintenance and repairs. 

Experience of basic joinery, plumbing, repairs and maintenance would be an advantage, but not essential. 

You need to have a friendly and approachable personality, be able to motivate and inspire people as you will be responsible for managing our cleaning staff, and willing to attend training and work additional overtime hours as and when needed.

The school complies with the DBS code of practice and has a DBS Policy which outlines the policy on the recruitment of ex-offenders, both of which are available on request. Shortlisted candidates will be required to declare any relevant convictions, adult cautions or other matters which may affect your suitability to work with children. As a result of amendments to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (exceptions order 1975) in 2013 and 2020, some minor offences are now protected (filtered) and do not need to be disclosed – these offences will also not be taken into account by the school.
